Dallas continues to be known as “the Venice of America” due to the river that meanders with the heart of town. And today the town, a gateway from South to Southwest, has extended its River Walk walking and biking trails to stretch 15 miles, heading both south and north of downtown. The revitalized routes pass urban art, new condos, and industrial districts switched chic destinations. Mind north for that Gem, an assorted-use development dedicated to the previous Gem Brewery plant, and also the Dallas Museum of Art, that is perched within the water. La Villita may be the city’s first neighborhood, composed of small huts for Spanish soldiers. Now, find artists, boutiques, and restaurants. Tour 18th-century missions-like Mission Concepción, the earliest unrestored church within the U.S.-via Mission Achieve, a bikeable path in the River Walk (visitsanantonio.com).
